October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month!
Each October, the City of Los Angeles joins the rest of the country in observing Domestic Violence Awareness Month, in order to shed light on an issued that unfortunately affects our communities in a tragic and staggering way. Domestic violence thrives when we are silent, and we want victims and survivors to know that they are not alone and that there is help available.
This year, the City is turning purple for Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Check out LAX, DWP, City Hall, the Capital Records Building, and other sites around town which have joined in supporting this important cause!

Theme: Hidden Harm – The Unseen Injuries Caused by Domestic Violence
Mayor Garcetti will be joining City Attorney Mike Feuer, Councilmember Mike Bonin, and members of the City Council and LAPD as we commemorate Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The theme of this year’s event is “Hidden Harm – The Unseen Injuries Caused by Domestic Violence.”

Join us and City Council as we honor the work of the City of Los Angeles Domestic Violence Task Force, and all of its member agencies and service providers.

Following the Council ceremony, a reception will be held honoring the fine men and women of the Los Angeles Police Department and the work they do bringing justice to victims with our Domestic Abuse Response Teams.
